The Neighborhood

image
Oak Meadow Neighborhood is strategically located at the corner of South Fish Hatchery and Lacy Roads. Because of its proximity to Fitchburg's City Hall and Community Center, as well as the Fitchburg Technology Campus, this intersection offers residents convenience and accessibility.

Oak Meadow's trail corridors connect bike and pedestrian trails from Fitchburg Technology Campus and neighborhoods east of Fish Hatchery Road to Wildwood South Prairie Park and Bryne Park. This trail could ultimately connect surrounding neighborhoods with the Capital City Trail and environmental corridor system.

Oak Meadow is uniquely situated on an infill site between established single family neighborhoods on the north, west and south and the Fitchburg Technology Campus to the east. The neighborhood is further defined by the linear greenway that divides the site along the ridge top. Within this preserve are areas of steep topography, portions of woodland and oak meadow, and views of the Capitol, offering ideal opportunities for passive recreation and interconnecting pathway systems.

The mixed-use neighborhood will ultimately consist of 165 single-family homes and two condominium communities of approximately 125 homes.

The general design standards of the neighborhood will protect current and future values of the properties while helping deliver a cohesive feel and presence to the neighborhood.

Some of these features include:

* Landscaped open spaces offering opportunities for social interaction and resident use;
* Topography and landscaping to screen parking lots;
* Bicycle parking for residents and visitors;
* Private streets with attractive lighting and aligning trees;
* Pedestrian scale ornamental lighting for walkways and use areas in a style that enhances the building architecture and street character.
